How does Red Light Therapy work:

How does Blue Light Therapy work: 

During the process of blue light therapy, the skin is exposed to Blue light (417nm), which is quickly absorbed by acne-causing bacteria. Molecules within the bacteria then react by producing singlet oxygen and free radicals that in-turn destroy the P. Acnes bacteria. Once the body has been exposed to Blue light, the use of Red light therapy helps to restore normal cellular function and promotes healthy skin rejuvenation. The process is the same for the treatment of acne scars when targeting both adolescent and adult acne needs. Severe acne is often treated using a more aggressive treatment such as 5-aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) during photodynamic therapy (PDT). In order to maintain health skin, a topical skin care for acne is also recommended.

What to Expect: 

LIGHTWAVE is safe, simple, and easy. The amount of time you spend at your skin care specialist may vary based on your individual skin care needs. You can expect an individual LIGHTWAVE treatment to take up 30 minutes and allow for an additional 20 minutes for pre and post care. Its so simple and fast that many patients have treatments during a lunch break or on a quick stop on the way to or from work. However, the relaxing, euphoric effect usually lasts throughout the day.
